Description

Renowned scholar Henry Louis Gates, Jr. presents this vital four-part PBS documentary following the Civil War. Our nation struggled to rebuild itself during profound, revolutionary changes. We see the real story of Reconstruction – one of America’s most overlooked, misunderstood and misrepresented periods of history. It honors the struggle of the African Americans who fought their way out of slavery and challenged the nation to live up to the founding ideals of democracy, freedom and equality. Your instructor will be joined by Dr. Grace Davis Harris to facilitate one or two sessions. Dr. Harris is a retired educator with 30 plus years’ experience as an administrator, cultural diversity teacher and corporate trainer.
