Description

Have you ever wondered how the weather is observed? This course will introduce you to the most-common instruments, such as surface weather stations, weather balloons, radar, and satellite that are used to monitor weather conditions across Wisconsin and the world. You’ll also get the chance to be a part of a live weather balloon launch to close out the course! Your instructor is a professor of Atmospheric Sciences at UW-Milwaukee and has published over 20 research papers, including ones on tropical storms and hurricanes.
