Description

Your class instructor will bring her teaching career in social studies and history and materials to supplement The Great Courses DVD lectures by your distinguished guide, scholar, administrator and bestselling author Dr. Richard Kurin, Under Secretary for History, Art and Culture at the Smithsonian. This course showcases authentic historic objects, detailed replicas and photographs of artifacts and exhibits from this world-renowned museum. These evocative items tell the story of America, its people and its diverse cultures. We begin with the Star Spangled Banner flag, continue with slave shackles and the Conestoga wagon, and conclude with the last passenger pigeon.
