Description

In Part 2 of this course we will continue to examine the life and works of Mark Twain, known as “The Father of American Literature.” The Great Courses program features Professor Railton’s discussion of Twain’s most popular novel, Huckleberry Finn and how the novel defines America’s voice, as well as the book’s controversial aspects. Prof. Railton brings Twain’s satire in Connecticut Yankee and Puddin’head Wilson to life. As Twain enters into the 20th century his anti-imperial works are discussed. The Great Courses DVD will be interspersed with class discussion and PowerPoint presentations.
